While working on the resident website, it occurred to me that now that we are starting a new year, it is high time to have a Blog on this website. I am just thinking out loud now, but this could be sort of a running journal of life at the Admiral. We have had two big milestones in the past week: vaccinations at the Harbors for residents and employees, and the end of 2020. What a year! We have weathered Covid. We have given ourselves a new A-V system for Christmas. We have seen a spate of move-ins in December, so we welcome our new residents with open arms. Please note the huge grins behind our masks!
Hopefully, you have seen Winslow Jackson's spectacular new production "Let's Talk!" which can be seen on Channel 1902 on Saturdays at 1 pm. Winslow interviews seasoned residents and newcomers in a fascinating showcase of resident talents and interests. This week's episode featured immediate past and current presidents (of the Admiral Residents Association) Toni Smith and Minna Taylor, talking about resident engagement and committee activities. There are around 40 committees and interest groups, all of which welcome visitors and new members. Winslow then introduced us to Norman Reidl, gardening aficionado. Norman immediately saw problems with our front landscaping, noting that plots furthest from the front entrance are less vibrant than those closer to the entrance. He is working with the landscaping company to spruce up the front landscape.
Minna and Chuck Taylor hosted a New Year's Eve celebration on the 12th floor. I've discovered that hallway parties are difficult to photograph.

Please send blog topic ideas, contributions, whatever to Jody Ashenhurst at jodyash@me.com.
great addition .... thanks Dorothy and Jodyl.
Thanks to Dorothy I can access this blog! Is this a brand new endeavor?
Is it too mundane to ask what new endeavors people are trying in this new year? Is it a new activity like Win's TV talk show where other's might participate? We could use some more shows on different topics.
I propose that current resident interest groups that are meeting on zoom broadcast the meetings on channel 1901, so more of us can monitor the activities on TV to see if we might want to actively participate.
Thanks Dorothy. Now I just need to figure out how to add a title for the blog. I was thinking of "Hoisting the Sails".
Yay! This is just what the new year needs, a return of communications among us. Happy launch!
